Roderick “Rod” D’Elia, age 80, of Southwest Ranches, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025.

Born on July 6, 1945, in Yonkers, New York, Rod proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he worked as an aircraft mechanic on the Hercules C-130. His time in the service sparked a lifelong passion for aviation and set the foundation for a successful career.

Rod shared 57 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Cindy, building a life filled with love, laughter and family. He was a loving father to Lisa (David) Shoaff and MaiLin (Bob) Beckman and a proud grandfather to Matthew (Priscilla), Caitlyn, Emily, Anthony and Andrew. Rod cherished time spent with his great-grandchildren, Levi and Caden, who never failed to bring a smile to his face.

Rod will be remembered not only for his devotion to his family but for his gentle heart and the kindness he showed to everyone around him. His wit, warm smile and genuine friendliness made him someone people were naturally drawn to. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the many lives he touched along the way.

A Graveside Service will take place on October 16th, 2025, at 10:00 AM at South Florida National Cemetery, located at 6501 FL-7, Wellington, Florida 33449.

So sorry to hear of Rod’s passing. A generous caring man who allowed me to partner with him in the horse racing business. We won a few. Most importantly, he taught me a lot about life. Rest in Peace.
