Rohan Rampal Suckie

July 28, 1962~July 16, 2022

Rohan Rampal Suckie was born on July 28, 1962, from the union of Wilfred (deceased) and Movita Suckie in Kingston, Jamaica. He is the fourth of six children, the first of three boys. At an early age, it was evident that Rohan was destined for greatness. He was academically and kinesthetically gifted. He graduated from Calabar High School, at age 15, and passed 9 O-Levels exams with distinction. He then matriculated to Excelsior Community College to pursue advanced course work. The enthusiasm he had for his education was equally matched on the soccer field, he was a force to be reckoned with.

He migrated to New York, to seek opportunities for personal growth, and live the American dream. On February, 18 1989, he and Marcia Forde, was joined in holy matrimony in Kingston, Jamaica. The union produced one child, Ashlee Suckie in October 2, 1992, who was the center of his entire world.

Rohan (affectionately known as Rampal by most) was an employee at the Ministry of National Security in Jamaica, where he was the payroll supervisor. He had a long tenure in the banking industry, with his last role being an Operations Manager at Barnett Bank. Under Marcia’s guidance and encouragement, he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at Barry University, then went on to complete his Master’s Degree in Nursing and was a PhD candidate, with only three courses to complete his Doctorate in Nursing.  He was employed at Mount Sinai Medical Center for over 20 plus years, (his home away from home), his last role being a Cardiothoracic Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner, where he impacted the lives of so many patients, mentored many nurses, medical residents, and friends on his life’s journey. Rohan also had an Associate’s Degree in Aviation Mechanics, certified by the FAA.  He was also a thoroughbred horse owner with his brother Henry (deceased).

His legacy will be filled with fond memories of acts of kindness and service to others. He would give away the shirt on his back, fed everyone – he loved to cook – and for being extremely hard-working. He was loving, kind-hearted, passionate, family-oriented, humble, and having a wealth of knowledge he imparted on everyone he touched. He was respected and loved by many. His hobbies were soccer, traveling, watching and wagering on thoroughbred horse racing, going to the beach, and entertaining his plethora of family and friends. He enjoyed seeing others happy and achieving their dreams and goals. He believed in unification of others and never discriminated against the less fortunate. He personified diversity and inclusion.

On July 16, 2022, with Ashlee and Marcia at his side he transitioned to his Heavenly Father. He is survived by his mother: Movita, (Putch); daughter: Ashlee; Marcia;  Siblings: Maria, Monica, and Wilfred; his nieces and nephews who her loved as his own: Kimla, Kenisha, Henry Jr., Sasha, and Curtis; many aunts, uncles, cousins; the Mount Sinai and Ministry of National Security family, trainers, jockeys and many many friends.
