Rose Barbara (Dantono) Maloney

Rose Barbara Maloney, 91, passed away in her Cooper City home on February 17, 2024.  Rose was born in Brockton, MA on May 30, 1932, the daughter of Joseph and Concetta Dantono, and the loving sister of Marie and Carmela.

Rose was surrounded by her husband of 67 years (John Maloney) and her daughter, Diane and husband (Victor) Zarrilli, and son Jack and wife (Jacqui) Maloney.  Rose also leaves behind six grandchildren: Meggan, Angela, John and Anthony Zarrilli, and Jack and Kate Maloney.

Rose graduated from Brockton High School in 1950 and pursued her Bachelor’s Degree in teaching from Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, MA.  As her dedication to teaching children grew, she developed a passion for helping children with special needs. She was awarded her Master’s Degree and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS), with both post graduate degrees focused on learning techniques to teach and groom children with special needs.  Rose tirelessly devoted her efforts to teaching children with special needs for the next 12 years of her career, retiring from The Glover School in Milton, MA in 1991.

Rose had a zest for life and lived her life with a humble attitude and a positive spirt.  She enjoyed all types of music from Italian classics to Frank Sinatra to country music. In her retirement, she could be found on the dance floor almost daily with her sister, Carmela.  When not dancing, she enjoyed traveling and her 2 favorite destinations were Italy and Hawaii.  Additionally, she was a world class cook who loved to spoil her family with her signature dishes of Ziti and Meatballs, Chicken Cutlets, Chocolate Pudding Squares and her signature Stuffing on Thanksgiving.  However, her greatest love and source of joy by far was her family.  She worked tirelessly her entire life to serve her family and she taught them love and compassion by her actions.

Services will be held at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Saturday, February 24th, 2024 followed by a private family dinner in her honor and memory.
