Rose Rita Walker, 86, of Davie, Florida, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 16, 2015.
She was born in Philadelphia, PA. Rose graduated from Notre Dame Girls High School in Moylan, PA, in 1946. She married the late Edward Donald Walker on February 18, 1950, and they lived together in Morton, PA, before relocating to Miramar, Florida, in 1957.
Rose worked at Hollywood Central Elementary School until she retired in 1989 and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. After retirement, she volunteered daily at the Central West Adult Day Care Center, bringing food to the elderly and making their days brighter with her witty personality. Rose was an active member of St. David Catholic Church in Davie, Florida.
Rose was predeceased by her sister, Lee Jacquette, of Newtown Square, PA. She is survived by her three sons: Michaell Walker and wife, Lisa, of Davie, Florida; Jeffrey Walker and wife, Donna, of Butler, Tennessee; and Donald Walker and wife, Heather, of West Palm Beach, Florida. In addition, Rose is survived by several nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren: Alaina Walker of Montgomery, Alabama; Ashley Haggard and husband, Nevin of Haines City, Florida; Jacqueline Blake and husband, Collin of Haiku, Maui, Hawaii; Shane Walker of Frostproof, Florida; Michele Holt and husband, Ehren of Stuart, Florida; Vincent Walker of Los Angeles, California; Melissa Hanniford of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; and Kaitlyn Walker of Davie, Florida; and one great grand-daughter, Ava Haggard.
A funeral mass and memorial service for family and friends will be held on Saturday May 16, 2015. The family wishes to thank her special niece, Peggy Prudente, her wonderful friends George Aranda, Chris Bobos and Aurora Fotta, and the amazing nurses and staff at the Trust Bridge Hospice Services.
