Russell G. Sweeten passed away Friday, January 8th surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Julie Buonomo Sweeten, his 5 children, Sandra, Russell JR, Dennis, Kevin and Wendy. He was pre-deceased by his brother Norman and daughter Pamela. He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren, Jeff, Greg, Kathy, Scott, Melissa, Matthew, David, Heather, Ariel, Maggie, Kerri-Ann, Timmy, Megan, Jenna and Megan, along with his 25 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Russell was born in Hoboken NJ to G. Joseph and Gertrude Sweeten on September 7th, 1921. After serving in the U.S. Army Air Force during W.W.II and 6 years in the Army Reserves, he returned to Hoboken and joined the Hoboken Police force. He served on the force for 35 years rising to the ranks of Captain. After his retirement he moved to Hollywood Florida in 1980 where he was active in the community with many clubs such as the American Legion, Disabled Veterans Association, Lions, Italian Am. Civic League and the P.B.A. Among his many hobbies were pilot, artist, writer, photographer, editor, stained glass, wood carving, entertaining Veterans, cook, cartoon artist, painter, auto mechanic and carpenter. He will be sorely missed by all his friends and family. Calling hours will be held from 2-8 PM with Prayer Service at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 13th, at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, 6400 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, FL 33024.

Prayers to the family. Even though I never got to meet you your grandson Matt spoke of you often. Your great grand daughter enjoyed chatting with you on Facebook she will miss you.
