Hollywood, FL – Sandra Elaine Heberling passed away suddenly on June 19, 2020, at Memorial Regional Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Christopher, mother, Bernice (Millen) Hanlin, her father, Walter Blinke and eldest daughter Latisha.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Paul Louis Heberling, whom she married on June 25, 1965. She is also survived by her children: Michelle and Joshua and her six grandchildren: Emilio, Anthony, Daniella, Jamison, Lyra and Jonah.
Sandra Elaine Heberling was born on October 10th, 1947 in Detroit, MI. She was the second of 8 children and was a great help to her mother in raising the younger children.
Sandy moved from Detroit to Dayton, OH where she met Paul and once married, spent her remaining years in Hollywood, Florida, passionately working as a special education teacher and ESE specialist. She dedicated her career to finding unique and special ways to help these students navigate the school system and truly cared for the children. She had an unbelievable amount of energy when it came to helping others and was the most generous person you will ever meet. The only passion that outweighed Sandra’s care for her students was her love for family, specifically her grandchildren.
Sandy enjoyed cooking for and doing arts and crafts with her grandchildren. She loved the beach, boating, and the sun. Sandy never missed an opportunity to support the children’s sport activities, music, art shows, and milestone events, no matter how challenging the schedule.
As matriarch of her family, she modeled and taught all of us how to parent and put the needs of our children above all else. Sandy spent much of her free time reading and learning about child behavior and applying her teachings to help all the children in her life. She spent several years active in La Leche League helping young mothers bond with their newborns though the teachings of Attachment Parenting and nursing.
Everyone who knew Sandy felt her love and genuine interest in their lives. She is deeply missed. Please keep the Heberling family in your prayers.
Given the current and very real concerns of COVID-19, the Memorial and Religious Service will be held Private. We understand that many of her friends and family members who may be at increased risk are unable to attend. With respect, honor, and sacrifice that may be absent, the family will stream the service and be able to pay your respects to Sandra. Our hearts go out to all of you feeling the loss of our beloved.
On Wednesday, June 24, 2020 beginning at 5:00 PM, Sandra’s Service will be LIVE on Zoom:

Our family was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Sandy's passing. What an exuberant, funny, wonderful and loving lady Sandy was. There are not many people that cross your path that you remain friends with for 50+ years. Friends that, no matter how long ago it was that you last spoke, you can pick up the phone and talk to as if you had just spoken yesterday. That is the kind of friendship our family had with Sandy, and still have with Paul. Life flies by so quickly and it's times like this that we realize just how fragile life really is. So today, we say goodbye to our special friend. A friend that touched so many lives but left a lasting footprint on ours. To Paul, Michelle, Josh and family, our hearts are with you. No words, no poems, no scripture will make sense of the loss you feel. The voice that once filled the air with so much joy and wisdom is now silent and nothing can fill that emptiness. We will miss the beautiful spirit that made her so special. Our hope is that you will find some comfort and encouragement in the words of those who loved her and felt blessed to have been part of her life. Our love to you all, Pat, Barry. Lisa, and BJ
