Con gran tristeza anunciamos el fallecimiento de Sergio L. Campos, de 73 años, residente de Miami, Florida, quien partió el 13 de septiembre de 2025.

Sergio nació el 24 de noviembre de 1951, en Tequila, Jalisco, México, hijo de Maximino Campos y Antonia García. Creció en Guadalajara, Jalisco, y en 1969 emigró a los Estados Unidos. Ese mismo año, en California, formó un grupo de rock con su hermano Ernesto. En 1971, su futura esposa se unió a la agrupación “Green Grass”, donde Sergio fue el cantante principal y guitarrista líder, Iris tocaba los teclados y Ernesto la batería. Posteriormente, crearon otra banda llamada “Grupo Arco Iris”. El amor de Sergio por la música fue una pasión de toda la vida que marcó su juventud y llenó su
hogar de alegría. Se graduó en 1985 del Los Angeles City College con un título asociado en artes.

El 16 de marzo de 1974, Sergio contrajo matrimonio con Iris García, compartiendo juntos 25 años de matrimonio. Fue un padre amoroso y un abuelo extraordinario, profundamente dedicado a sus cuatro nietos: Sergio III (28), Juliet Olivia (15) y los gemelos Dominick Sergio y Daniel Robert (9). Disfrutaba especialmente pasar tiempo con ellos, ya fuera asistiendo a los partidos de fútbol americano de Sergio III, a las presentaciones de teatro de Juliet, o llevando a los gemelos a Chuck E. Cheese’s y apoyando cada uno de sus logros.

A Sergio le apasionaba la música, jugar bingo y seguir a sus equipos deportivos favoritos: el fútbol (Chivas de México) y el fútbol americano (Las Vegas Raiders). Le encantaban las películas Clueless y Beaches y tenía un gusto especial por la comida mexicana (sobre todo la picante) y el tequila. También disfrutaba nadar, mirar televisión y relajarse en el sofá. Su dedicación a la familia, al trabajo y a los pequeños placeres de la vida lo definió.

Después de mudarse a Florida en 1986, Sergio inició su carrera en la industria de la imprenta, llegando a ser jefe de prensa. Fue conocido por su inquebrantable ética laboral, responsabilidad y compromiso, siendo famoso por nunca faltar al trabajo por enfermedad. Más tarde ascendió al puesto de supervisor, ganándose el respeto de sus colegas por su constancia y liderazgo.

Sergio deja en vida a sus hijos: Iris y su esposo Michael; Sergio y su esposa Jamie; Sharon y su esposo Alejandro; así como a sus nietos: Sergio III, Juliet, Dominick y Daniel. También lo sobrevive su hermano Ernesto. Es recordado con cariño por muchos familiares y amigos que siempre guardarán su memoria.

Fue precedido en muerte por su hermana, Esther Leal.

Sergio será recordado como un padre, abuelo, hermano y amigo devoto, cuya vida estuvo llena de amor, risas y música. Su fuerte ética de trabajo, personalidad vibrante y espíritu alegre dejaron una huella imborrable en todos los que lo conocieron. Ya fuera
tocando su guitarra, animando a sus equipos favoritos o creando recuerdos con sus nietos, Sergio vivió con pasión y con el corazón. Su memoria vivirá en la música que tocó, en la familia que amó y en las innumerables vidas que tocó.

El velorio se llevará a cabo el viernes, 19 de septiembre del 2025, desde las 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM en la Funeraria Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, University Drive Chapel con un tributo a la vida de Sergio empezando a las 7:30 PM.

La Misa será el viernes, 19 de septiembre a las 2:00 PM en la iglesia St. Benedict Catholic Church.

El entierro sera al sabado, 20 de septiembre, 10:30 AM en el cementerio Caballero Rivero Woodlawn Park West.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sergio L. Campos, age 73, of Miami, Florida, who passed away on September 13, 2025.

Sergio was born on November 24, 1951, in Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico, to Maximino Campos and Antonia Garcia. He grew up in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and came to the United States in 1969. That same year in California, he started a rock group with his brother Ernesto. In 1971, his future wife joined them in the group “Green Grass,” where Sergio was the lead singer and lead guitarist, Iris played keyboard, and Ernesto played drums. Later, they created another band, “Grupo Arco Iris.” Sergio’s love for music was a lifelong passion that shaped his youth and filled his home with joy. He graduated from Los Angeles City College in 1985 with an associate’s degree in arts.

On March 16, 1974, Sergio married Iris Garcia, and together they shared 25 years of marriage. He was a loving father and an extraordinary grandfather, deeply devoted to his four grandchildren: Sergio III (28), Juliet Olivia (15), and twins Dominick Sergio and Daniel Robert (9). He especially loved spending time with them, from attending Sergio III’s football games and Juliet’s drama shows to taking the twins to Chuck E. Cheese’s and supporting all their milestones.

Sergio enjoyed music, playing bingo, and following his favorite sports teams—soccer (Chivas, Mexico) and football (Las Vegas Raiders). He loved the movies Clueless and Beaches and had a special fondness for Mexican food (especially spicy) and tequila. He enjoyed swimming, watching TV, and relaxing on the couch. His dedication to family, work, and life’s simple pleasures defined him.

After moving to Florida in 1986, Sergio began his career in the printing industry and became a printing press foreman. He was known for his unwavering work ethic, reliability, and commitment, famously never calling out sick. Later, he rose to the supervisor position, earning colleagues respect for his consistency and leadership.

Sergio is survived by his children, Iris and her husband Michael; Sergio and his wife Jamie; Sharon and her husband Alejandro; his grandchildren, Sergio III, Juliet, Dominick, and Daniel; and his brother, Ernesto. He is also remembered by many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Esther Leal.

Sergio will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was filled with love, laughter, and music. His strong work ethic, vibrant personality, and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether strumming his guitar, cheering for his favorite teams, or making memories with his grandchildren, Sergio lived life with passion and heart. His memory will live on in the music he played, the family he cherished, and the countless lives he touched.

The viewing will take place on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, University Drive Chapel, with a tribute to Sergio’s life beginning at 7:30 PM.

The Mass will be held on Friday, September 19, at 2:00 PM at St. Benedict Catholic Church.

The burial will take place on Saturday, September 20, at 10:30 AM at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn Park West Cemetery.
