Stewart Donald passed away on September 20, 2014, after a long illness. Stewart was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on January 3, 1954, the son of Joseph and Catherine Whigham Donald.
Stewart lived for many years in Lochinver, Sutherland in the lovely Scottish Highlands. It was there that he met his wife, Joan Sargus Donald, whom he married in October, 1991, in Ohio.
He studied painting and decorating at Telford College in Edinburgh. He never tired of the painting profession and operated his own business, Stewart Donald Painting in Newark, Ohio.
For the past two years, Stewart was a resident of Delray Beach, Florida, where he enjoyed the abundant sun and warm weather. Stewart was always generous with his painting and renovations skills. He was kind and considerate to the end of his life even as he struggled with his disabled body and mind. He was a lover of animals and animals of all sorts adored him.
Preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ricky, he is survived by wife Joan Sargus Donald, step children Sam Carlisle of New York City, and Elisabeth Carlisle Somerville and her husband, Michael, of Falls Church, Virginia, and a beloved step granddaughter, Mary Rose Somerville.
He leaves three brothers including twin brother, Joe, of Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland, James, of Edinburgh, and Graham of Macclesfield, England, as well as three sisters Marion Charlie Brechin, Shirley, and June Andrew McQuater, all of Edinburgh, and numerous nieces and nephews, including special niece, Megan Beneat Donald.

Beautiful and interesting tribute. I wish I had been fortunate enough to have known Stewart longer. All of my encounters with him found him with a smile on his face and kindness in his eyes. No matter how he may have felt physically, his heart shined through with goodness.

Dear Joan,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I only met Stewart once; I believe it was Lauren’s wedding. We shared a very nice conversation and I remember thinking what a delightfully pleasant man he was. Please know that you will remain in my thoughts and prayers.
Chris
