Suzanne B. Thompson
May 7, 1939 ~ September 7, 2021
a.k.a. “I AM SueT” / Tompy. At age 82, Sue passed away Tuesday September 7th at her Home in Hollywood Florida after a hard-fought battle with Cancer. Sue was born and raised in Bristol, CT. After graduating from Bristol High School, Sue served as a military wife for most of the 1960’s while raising four young children mostly single handed – relocating to a new state every few years.
Sue made Hollywood Florida her forever home, growing roots and making new friends wherever she went. Her working years were spent making every dollar count while working in a Doctors office and later for the Broward County School Board. In tough times, she pulled double duty midnight shifts at the local Great Value Grocery store or late nights at the Ft. Lauderdale airport working security detail. She always made ends meet for her kids regardless of what it took.
Retirement was a mixed bag of “this, that and the other” for Sue. She always had a project going, an appointment, an unfinished poem, a “meet-up” event, always something. Her close circle of friends were so very special and dear to her heart. In retirement, Sue enjoyed her volunteer work at the V.A. , as well as her writing group. She never feared reading one of her “uncanny” poems at the podium. Anybody that knew her, would know that Sue had an adoring love for cats. She could often be found tending to a feral cat with her own supply of food and water. She’s been known to deliver care packages to the homeless on Young Circle. Maybe get a new tattoo while she’s “down that way”. Maybe go to the beach, since she’s “halfway there already”. She loved the beach at sundown. Mama Sue, with her HUGE heart, would donate REGULARLY to Good Karma Pet Rescue, Broward Outreach programs among many other charities.
Suzanne Thompson is survived by four children, three Grand Children, as well as her Brother Kenny and a slew of friends.. Sue will be missed, in so many ways, by so many people on so many different levels.
Decades ago, Sue made the decision to donate her body to the Anatomical Board of the State of Florida (University of Miami) for use in Medical Education. It’s not a surprise that Sue chose to continue donating even after she passed. She made it very clear that she did not want a Funeral Home Ceremony, nor did she want flowers when her time had come.
“Go with God” she would often say, and so… she did. Rest in Peace Mama Sue, “Sweet Sue”. We will try to fill the void you left with the loving memories of laughter and fun we created together, with you.
In her final days, one of Mom’s biggest concerns was about her loving kitty cat companion “Grey-Grey”.
Sue requested that, in lieu of flowers – all who knew her, would contribute to a pet rescue charity in her honor – Please follow the link at the bottom of this page to help build a fund that will help to relocate Mom’s cat “Grey Grey”. Any donations big or small will help. The goal being to find a “Forever Home” for Grey Grey. https://www.facebook.com/donate/288502749749821/10225967428553175/

Sue, this is very hard. We have known each other since 1976. Long time. We shared our life experiences together and then laughed at ourselves. I am glad that you have gone to meet God. He has been waiting for you. You are now FREE of pain, my dear friend. Rest In Peace. You will always be missed.

My sweet dear friend Sue. I treasure every moment we had together and every memory. I have known Sue and her family for more than, could it be forty years, oh my. Sue had a place in my heart from the moment I met her. We worked together for years. I stayed with her during a difficult time and she opened her heart and home for me. She made friends wherever she went. So many wonderful days on the beach together. Remember many Ocean 11, lunches together. We shared stories, time and seems we just related on so many levels. God has a special place for your kind loving soul. I will miss her and pray I get to walk in the garden with Sue one day. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this time of loss. May God bless her and hold Sue in his arms forever.

To Sue’s family & friends, please check back here frequently as we are preparing to attach a link to the obituary which will allow you to donate funds to a pet rescue/shelter in lieu of sending flowers. We apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience during this difficult time. Thank you, Joy (Sue’s daughter).

Dear Susie
I am so fortunate to have had you for my friend and coworker. You were one of a kind. Helping you to clear your desk at work, was a challenge, but I was honored to know you trusted me enough to help. You were a unique, kind and a wonderful person. I loved playing Words with Friends with you, even though you always won.
To your family that you adored, I wish you peace. Our loved ones leave the world, but not our hearts. Your loved one is part of who you are, of how you see the world, of how you live and give. Those priceless gifts are yours forever.
Thank you for being my special friend. Rest In Peace. I will always love and miss you

Dear Mama – Your void will never be filled. I can only take solace in knowing you are not suffering any longer. I will forever miss my virtual TV guide, my sparring partner in WWF, and the hour long talks we had that almost always started with you saying “I cant talk long…”. LOL – We did. We had the most free flowing conversations anyone could have. I’m sure you always had a “list” of things to talk to your Donny Juanny about… I – on the other hand, just winged it. Never a dull moment. What you sacrificed to raise four kids is something to be recognized in a BIG way. The more we are sorting through your “stuff” the more we discover that your life was not about you – it was more about everyone else who you loved. You are the I AM you used as your tag line. Caring, loving, thoughtful and selfless – right to the end of your time with us here. Now you can fly with the seagulls over Hollywood Beach and with the Dove’s over Park Street. I love and miss you more than you could know Mommy. 143 D/Q – Donny

Susie, you were an important part of our Sheridan Guidance Family. My office was adjacent to the back of your desk. It was always a surprise to find another box stored there. You laughingly said. I have to get rid of some of that stuff. You were the hippie on our team. Free spirited and fun but mostly kind and warm with a generous nature. I will always have loving memories of you as part of my work family and office neighbor. The world will miss your kindness, openness, lively spirit, and generosity. With loving thoughts of you, Tina

Dear Mom, this has been very difficult for me and the family. I’ve been doing my best to hold down the fort and hold back the tears.
You are Irreplaceable and nothing will ever fill that void you have in my heart.
The only thing that makes me feel a little bit better is just knowing that you are no longer suffering and are in a much better place.
I miss you now and I will miss you forever. May you rest in peace and I love you and miss you SO much. XXOO ❤ 143.

Dear Susie
What a gift you were to us at STC – a kind, caring, and giving unique individual who impacted the lives of coworkers and people we served. I recall once commenting to about how I had prayed for something that came about. You said “did you remember to give thanks?” Those words have stayed with me and I give thanks for having had the privilege of working with you!
God bless Susi

Mom,
It was a week ago tonight that we lost you, I was sitting next to your bedside waiting for Dave to wake up from his well deserved nap. Donny had just left the house. Abby the nurse was expected for the night shift. I began to see you decline rapidly. I knew there was nothing I could do except pray for your peace and whisper in your ear one last time, ”I love you and I will miss you Mama”. I told you what a great and loving mother you were to us. I knew you were ready. You had ”enuff”. Just know that not a day will go by that I won’t be thinking about you. Tears will come and go. You are my forever loving mother and my best friend. I will see you again one day. God is good. May you be resting in peace. I love you very much! Joy Joy <3

To my dear Sue you will be terribly missed in the poetry world and among friends in general. You made us laugh with your hilarious poems and your rendition of them. You took life with a grain of salt and that was a lesson for all of us. So glad you are no longer suffering and I hope you enjoy all the rock and roll there is in heaven…
