I was fortunate to work with Tom when the PD and FD were on the bleeding edge of technology implementing a new communications and records systems. I would often get frustrated and comment everyday was like the movie “Groundhog Day” in that no matter what we tried or did the next day continued to be the same as there were always more problems. Tom was always level headed and calm in addressing the issues of the day. Rather than dwell on problems he looked for solutions. Because of him the project got completed and the system was made better. I am sure that Tom must have been the same in his family life. Never getting too upset or worried and always looking to find an answer and make things better.
In Tom’s understated sense of humor he would call me ever February 2nd, Groundhog Day, call me by the movie’s lead character’s name and we would catch up on our lives. This continued even after I retired and we spoke just a few short months ago. His love for his family was always present in our conversations. As irreplaceable as Tom is at work we know it must pale in comparison to the void left in his family.
Tom was always reflecting and proud of the accomplishments of the people around him. Let us never forget to keep him in our lives. I know l cannot help to every February 2nd.

I met Tom a couple years ago at a Western high school volleyball game watching his daughter Meaghan playing alongside my daughter. I don’t think he’s missed a game since because I’ve always seen him there. What a super dad and a great person. God took you away from us way too soon. We will miss you Tom. May you rest in peace and God Bless.

Tom Gallagher was truly a beautiful soul and was taken much too soon. Tom was the personification of a devoted and loving husband, dedicated father and genuine friend. I am thankful to have known such a kind, warm and giving person. All who have had the privilege to know Tom will sadly miss him. The special memories we all have will keep Tom alive in our hearts forever. Debra, my heart is full of love and sympathy on the loss of your beloved husband. Christopher, Kayla, Meaghan, Stephanie and Amanda your Father was a remarkable man and he was not only the kind of man people wanted to be, he was the kind of man people would be proud to be. The passing of a love one is always so difficult and no words are able to mend a broken heart. May you find strength in the love of family and in the warm embrace of friends. You are in my heart and thoughts.

This message goes out to Tom’s entire family, but especially to his mother, Mary. Tom’s father was my first cousin and we both grew up in a very close family.
I haven’t met Tom, Jr. and his family, yet I know the depth of loss they feel at the passing of their husband and father.
I pray they will take solace in the knowledge that he is now in the arms of the loved ones who have gone before him.
Eternal rest grant to him Oh Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon him.
