Udean A. Greaves passed away peacefully at the age of 82, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 2:29pm, in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

Udean was born on August 30, 1942, the fourth of eight children born to Samuel and Winifred Greaves in Point Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago.

As a boy, Udean attended Point Fortin Intermediate RC School in Mahaica, where he graduated and then attended St. Benedicts College in La Romaine.  He then attended John Donaldson Technical Institute on Wrightson Road where he  earned degrees in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.  Udean understood the importance of education and often reminded his two girls that people could take many things from you, but not your education.

As a young man he worked at the Point Fortin Muslim School on Bryce Rd, where he taught Math, English, Geography and Science. Udean left teaching to pursue a career in the field he was studying and worked at T&Tec, Trinidad & Tobago’s Electric Company, as an Electrical Engineer while earning his degree.  After graduating from John Donaldson Technical Institute, Udean landed another opportunity at Texaco Trinidad Oil Refinery as an Electrical and Mechanical Engineer, retiring with 30 years of service to the company.

Udean lived most of his life in Trinidad and Tobago, immigrating at the age of 57 to New York with his first wife.  He worked as an Engineer at Nassau County Hospital in Long Island.  In 2011 Udean’s wife passed away. After her death, he remarried and moved to Florida to be closer to his daughters.

Udean is predeceased by his first wife, Rosalind Greaves, survived by their daughters, Joanne Greaves and Rosanne Greaves and his second wife Susan Schram-Greaves.  Udean is also survived by his sisters, Undine McPhie, Erlise Rahman, Pauline Mohammed, Yolande Johnson, Irming Greaves and his brother Cazmere Greaves and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Udean A. Greaves, was a dedicated father and husband who spent all his energy loving and supporting his family.  He was a kind and gentle man.  Anyone who knew him experienced his wit and great sense of humor.  Udean was a well educated man of strong moral character. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
