We are heartbroken to hear of Father Walt’s passing. All one had to do is look in his eyes to know his kindness, gentleness, and knowing. His soul filled beauty now rests in God’ s loving arms.

I’m sorry to hear of the death of Walter. He was my Dad’s first cousin John Swanton, born July 4, 1020, son of Margaret and Ray Swanton; Margaret and Walter’s mother, Alice, were sisters. I remember visiting Aunt Alice and Walter with my family when I was a child and have nice memories of that. My family lived in Madison, Wisconsin. My granmother was with us on that trip to NY late 1950’s, and I was quite young. We had lost touch with Walter, and in researching my grandmother’s side of the family history, I found this obituary. What nice tributes to Walter. I’m sure he provided much comfort and wisdom to many over the years. My belated condolences to the family.

Sincerely,

Nancy Swanton

I am so blessed that God put Father Mitch in my life. I took the RCIA class that he and Noel taught in St Edward and it was life changing. He was so kind and his sense of humor was amazing.

My dear friend till we meet again in paradise.

My condolences to Noel and family.

Another year has passed since Father Walter left this world. Those years I attended morning mass in the warehouse before the St Edwards building was completed were so special. Father Walter would give the sign of peace to each and every person. Thank you God for having allowed Father Walt into my life. Till we meet again in paradise.
