Wilfred S. Martin

July 14, 1965~August 10, 2021

Our Beloved Wilfred Martin Jnr. passed away on Tuesday August 10th, 2021.  Wilfred or Junior as he was fondly called, was born on July 14, 1965, on his Mother’s birthday, in Georgetown, Guyana, South America.  He was one of thirteen children born to the late Wilfred Martin Snr. and Elaine Adela of Guyana.

After graduating High School in Guyana, he worked at the Bank of Guyana and made many friends. Wilfred migrated to the US to pursue higher education.  He attended, worked, tutored and mentored At-Risk Youths at La Guardia Community College. He was also active in sports, winning college trophies in Tennis and Volleyball, among others.  Wilfred continued his studies at CUNY Brooklyn College, and this is where he met his sweetheart and loving wife Karen.  He completed his undergraduate studies, graduating with degrees in computer science.

Wilfred worked in Albany, NY at the NYS Assembly.  He later relocated to Hollywood and Miami FL, where he was employed as a Systems Analyst for Sungard/FIS.  He made great lifelong friends working at these places for many years.

Wil’s love for music made him always ready to go to a party.  He was a true regular at countless Karaoke nights, especially at Tropix Lounge.  He sang all genres of music including reggae and ballads.  Songs by Barry White, Bob Marley, Lionel Ritchie, Beres Hammond and Teddy Pendergrass were among his favorite selections.

Wilfred was a loving husband, beloved brother, cherished brother-in law, wonderful son-in-law and super uncle, who cared for and protected each of his loved ones in a personal and very special way. He was generous to his nieces and nephews and spoiled them. They loved him and called him their FAVORITE – “ Uncle Wilfred”.

He was a trusted confidant and friend to everyone.  He had a special gift, and used it to touch everyone he met in a Very Special and Angelic and Divine way.

Our Beloved Wilfred has flown to OUR FATHER GOD ALMIGHTY.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, his brothers and sisters, his HOST of loving Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, In-laws and loving and caring friends that he called “ FAMILY”.

We Give Thanks and Praise for “HIS LIFE WITH US ON EARTH”.  Amen

Condolences to the family. We lost another member of our family and it has been very hard to think that Uncle Wilfred is gone. But at the same time is has been very consoling that he was received by the Lord and reunited with our grand/great grandparents, a sister, a brother and many others.

We will miss him dearly for the Guyana trips. We will miss him for his love and genuine concern. We will miss him dearly.

May the Lord continue to rest his soul in peace until the morning of the great Resurrection and grant us the us the consolation that we need in their bereaved time. Amen.
