March 12, 1945~September 04, 2024

William Louis Madden Jr. passed on peacefully at Memorial Hospital West on September 4, 2024 at the age of 79.

William is survived by his wife, Agnes Madden of 55 years; his children, William Madden Ill (Norma) and Michael Madden (Myrla); his granddaughters, Liana Michaelis (Jonathan), Mikayla Madden, and Madelyn Madden; his great-granddaughter, Tallulah Michaelis; and his baby, Sophie.

William served in the Navy as a Petty Officer Second Class in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1971. He received the Navy Achievement with Combat Distinguishing Device, the Vietnam Service Medal with one silver star and four bronze stars, and a Meritous Unit Commendation and Citation. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Masters Degree in Education and worked as a professor at Miami Dade College for 25 years. He was loved and adored by his students.

William was a grumpy and stubborn Irish man who dedicated his life to the love of his family and friends. He had a magnetic personality that drew people together and made everyone feel like family. He was known for his knowledge and wisdom, his endless supply of jokes and laughter, and his love for the color green. Although he may no longer be with us in body, he leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and strength that will continue to inspire us for generations.

Never had a chance to interact with you when you were in Philippines since I was just a small boy then.
I hoped and planned to visit Florida next year and looked forward to drinking with you in an Irish Pub. This may not happen but I will make a toast of. Guinness Black Beer for you. May you rest in peace.

Love you pops. You have always been an amazing mentor and father figure to me. I enjoyed our countless conversations sitting outside especially when I first was married, figuring out my path in life, and listening to your voice of reason.

You will always hold a special place in the Bacchus house hold within our hearts.

Auntie Agnes and family,

I’m sorry to hear of Uncle’s passing. I think that the last time that we spoke we were talking about my Mom’s funeral. Anyway, I will always have fond memories of our times together. Hopefully, Uncle Bill is enjoying coffee with my parents and all the other Fajardos.

Sincerely,
Erwin Medina
