Guy was a wonderful friend and brother! His family was our family and we shared wonderful times together! Even after Guy and I were too busy to barely keeping touch he always found time to talk to my father (RIP). I can’t imagine a world without Guy and I know how hard it is for us to see him go. For Ro & the kids it it will be an impossible task to see your way forward without him but you can and you must! We are all here for you and wish you our deepest sympathy and condolences. Please reach out if you need anything! God Bless You All!

Guy sent me this Feb of 2014, I hope it helps knowing that he was always going to be God!

Death
What a Wonderful Way to Explain It

A sick man turned to his docto1· as he was preparing to leave the examination room and said,
“Doctor, I am afraid to die. Tell me what lies on the other side.” Very quietly, the doctor said, “I don’t know … ”
“You don’t know? You’re a Christian Man, and don’t know what’s on the other side?”
The doctor was holding the handle of the door; on the other side came a sound of scratching and whining, and as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room and leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.
Turning to the patient, the doctor said, “Did you notice my dog?
He’s never been in this room before. He didn’t know what was inside.
He knew nothing except that his master was here, and when the door opened, he sprang in without fear.
I know little of what is on the other side of death, but I do know one thing ….
I know my Master is there and that is enough.”

My heart breaks for the entire Gilliam family. We have lost a gentle soul with a giant personality. He was always there for you and genuinely cared for his fellow man. The simulation industry ill not be the same without him. He touched so many people and he probably didn’t even realize it. A true professional when you needed him. A voice of reason when required, A strong hand to steady the ship in tough times. I am proud to call Guy Gilliam my friend and will miss him immensely.

Rest in peace Guy.

Guy was a great friend, brother for not only for me also for everyone…. It’s been only a year since I met him. And, I still remember the first day. He always treated me like one of his family member from the first day to the last day I talked with him…. I’m sure that he will not be able to work with me in the office as usual… however, he will always be with me in my heart….
Guy.. Thank you so much… I learned so many things from you… and I promise, I’ll do the same for others…
Thank you.

Guy Gilliam my friend.
I have worked with Guy for a number of years and we served together on the Diversity committee. It was a blessing to have been able to be in his presence and to know his family. We traveled by train together often sharing the good and the bad while parting with good wishes for each other’s family.
Such close contact allowed me Insite as just how thoughtful and genuine my friend truly was.
I am 98% Irish by a DNA test. Guy once asked what the other two percent was. Playing with him I said African American. That is not true blood wise but it is true through my relationship with Guy, my brother, my friend. I miss him.
Now let me finish by saying this:
Guy, May Christ, the true shepherd, embrace you as one of his flock.
May you rest in the arms of the Lord.

Maria Gilliam

Guy,

Thank you for all the nights you let me sneak into the MD11 simulator to fly the Sim when we worked together at McDonnell Douglas. So sorry to hear of your passing but I am confident of the words of Jesus who said “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.” Until we meet again my Brother, may God continue to comfort and encourage your family.

Ro, I am so sorry for your loss. Some people are too good for this earth, their presence is required elsewhere.

I worked with Guy for only a short period of time at Boeing Long Beach, CA. However, it didn’t take long for him to have a large impact on me both personally and professionally. I’ll always remember his sense of humor and his talent at trivia – unmatched. Rest in eternal piece looking forward to catching up with you one day.

Short time here long time in a pine box. Enjoy it with loved ones.

I just found out on 3/22/2022 that one of the first supervisors I had in the USAF had passed. Guy and I have a unique history. I became “infamous” for driving Guy’s I think 1977 Monte Carlo without a license because at the time I didn’t tell him I didn’t have a license. Instead of him getting angry at me, he embraced me and consoled me, I still had to pay for the repair but the way he treated me, we bonded in a special way. I am going to miss him with his booming voice and wide smile. It’s hard for me to write this but I think I owe him at least this much. I’m going to miss you Guy. You taught me a lot more than you realized!

I worked with Guy in simulation in various aspects for decades starting in 1988 on the F4 sim in Victorville, CA with CAE. He was a sim tech shift lead and I was a software engineer. We then worked for McDonell Douglas in Long Beach, CA which became Boeing. Long Beach shut down and Guy left for Miami as the manager. I left for the Seattle sim site until that closed down and then joined him Miami… until COVID. Our paths crossed countless times over the decades and we remained good friends throughout. RIP Guy. You will be missed by all of us. I ended up leaving Miami when Guy passed and went back to CAE at the DFW sim site as a software engineer. I expect to cross paths with Guy again someday soon.
