Marie Marthe Rigaud

Marie Marthe Celestin Rigaud passed away at Broward Oak Rehabilitation Center in Plantation, Florida at the age of 101. She was born in Gros Morne, Haiti, a remote place where her father was completing an engineering project.

Daughter of the Engineer Architect, Georges Celestin and Therese Dupont.

Graduated from the Honorary School of Elie Dubois in Port-au-Prince where she learned the art
of savoir faire.

From one of her favorite saying

“Flattery is counterfeit currency it impoverishes the one who receives it”

In a few words Marthe Rigaud can be describe as genuine, simple, honest, true to herself and to others a loving person with a golden heart. Treating people with respect, dignity and special affection to her children, brothers; sisters, nieces, nephews and friends.

Her love for her children, grand children, great grand children was un-conditional.

Always positive, giving and willing to donate her last dollar.

A devoted mother and fervent Catholic conducting her family to practice the chain of prayers.

Her family adored her.

A true angel living among us. She personally organized food banks for the poor, fed the most neglected human in society affected by leprosy.

She always made time to assist and help others with the difficulties in life.

Sending the less fortunate to school; assisting others to safe passage to exile regardless of their
political affiliations.

She was well loved.

Her detailed oriented mind and her incredibly sharp memory were an asset for her entire
family.

Dates, birthdays and even phone numbers would not escape her. Year after year she was the one to remind us to call a cousin or a friend on their anniversary.

She was our homemade version of Alexa or Siri 

Her passion for crochet showed patience to realize large table runners and cloths.

Reading and crosswords were also a hobby.

Her secret to longevity was expresso coffee and toast for breakfast.

Lots of sweets throughout the day.

(Cakes, Ice cream, Cookies and of course Chocolates)

She is survived by 5 children, 15 grand children and 12 great grand children

Marthe Celestin Rigaud will be missed, she will forever live in our hearts.
