Alex E. Matos, age 84, of Hallandale Beach, passed away Monday, May 20, 2019, at Mount Sinai Medical Center. 

He was born on September 20, 1934, in Chiquian Ancash, Peru, where he was a math teacher. In 1989, he relocated to south Florida where he spent the rest of his life. Alex was an avid soccer and football fan, loved all animals and was a devoted father and grandfather who will be deeply missed. 

He is pre-deceased by his parents, Emilio Matos and Eva Saldivar, and his beloved wife, Elva. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Noemi  Matos Syken and her husband Kevin Syken; granddaughters, Emily and Gabriella; and his sister, Luz Matos. 

Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, June 9th, 10:00 AM at St. Matthew Catholic Church.
