With profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Aureliano Salguero Herrera, who entered eternal rest on July 1, 2026, at the age of 92.
Aureliano was born on December 28, 1933, in Nariño, Colombia, to Abel Salguero and Paula Herrera, both of whom preceded him in death. He was the sixth of seven children and was raised with the values of faith, humility, hard work, and respect that would define his remarkable life.
He graduated from Universidad Libre with a degree in Law and devoted many years of his professional life to the practice of Criminal Law. He also honorably served as a judge in Duitama and Villapinzón, Colombia, where he earned the respect of colleagues and the community for his fairness, integrity, and unwavering commitment to justice.
Although his professional accomplishments were many, those who knew Aureliano will remember him most for the man he was. He was kind, honorable, humble, and compassionate. His gentle spirit, wisdom, generosity, and unwavering moral character touched countless lives. He treated every person with dignity and respect, leaving a legacy defined not only by justice in the courtroom but also by love, kindness, and humility in everyday life.
An avid reader throughout his life, Aureliano possessed a deep appreciation for knowledge and learning. His curiosity, thoughtful conversations, and love of books reflected a lifelong desire to understand the world and share that wisdom with those around him.
He is lovingly survived by his children: Jairo O. Salguero; Julia I. Solano; Luz Marina Álvarez (William Álvarez); Franssi J. Urrego (Leonardo Urrego); Sizzie A. Marín; and Zoryah P. Kinson (Joseph Kinson).
