Carlos M Alvariño, 80 went to the Lord on June 4th, 2022, at his home in Weston, Florida, after receiving the Christian Rites, and surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Havana, Cuba, on October 29, 1941, to the late Heliodoro Alvariño and Manuela Portela.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Madelyn.  He was a loving father to his son Carlos M. Alvariño Jr., and his daughter Madelyn A. Farina (Edward) and his grandchildren Gabrielle and Alex Farina.

Carlos came from Cuba in 1961 together with his brother Jose.  He continued his education at Saint Joseph’s University where he graduated with a Business Administration degree.  He worked for over 50 years at Worldco Life Insurance Company in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania and Worldco Management Agency in Queensbury, New York where he was the Treasurer and Vice President.

Carlos and Madelyn were for many years volunteers at Guardian ad Litem for children, as children advocates.  Just 3 years ago when they retired to Florida, they received the Volunteers of the Year Award.

He was a very generous gentleman.  He and Madelyn loved to go dancing.  They had a very special relationship.  Carlos was a big fan of the Eagles football team and was proud to wear the team’s insignia.
