Charles was my much loved older brother and, despite all manner of trials and obstacles in his life, never lost his hope or sense of humour. The latter stood him in good stead with all he had to face. He came from a broken home and not good at school, faced challenges from early on. But he was good at all things that required inter-personal skills. My own storty with my brother goes from warm relations to indifference, to years of distance and distrust, back to forgiveness and friendship. He was fortunate beyond measure in finding the love and support of his wonderful partner Janet to whom I will always be grateful. If he found lack of understanding at home, he found true mutual understanding with her. I miss him terribly and love him still. Hal
