Christopher Lewis, age 76 of Miramar, Florida, passed away September 13, 2026. He was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on June 28, 1950 to the late Clyde and Drucilla Lewis.
He was the fourth of seven siblings, but always managed to be the assertive voice of reason among his siblings and family.
In his early life Christopher was a strong student and at an early age displayed a strong sense of independence and was of an industrious nature. This included barbering and driving taxi at a young age.
In his early adulthood he entered the teaching profession and left a lasting impression on many of his pupils, many of whom sought him out to share where they ended up in life. His career in Trinidad and Tobago spanned a plethora of ventures to include Business ownership, and banking.
His life in Trinidad and Tobago truly began when he met the love of his life Angela Edwards. From that moment on, at all events Christopher and Angela became a mandatory fixture. This was all a result of his tendency to be a part of whichever business venture his friends launched. A brief stint with fresh bread lead to a 52 year relationship that produced two children, Clyde and Christophe and later three grandchildren. ( Melissa , Issac, Sarina)
After a successful life in Trinidad and Tobago, Christopher along with his wife Angela decided to start over in the United States to provide a better life for their children. As much as Christopher loved his country, he loved his wife and family beyond measure.
After a 20 year career in public service Christopher retired to become affectionately known as “gramps” to his granddaughter Melissa and later “papa “ to his grandson Isaac. Although his youngest granddaughter is unable to speak she smiled at the sight of Christopher.
The unique characteristic that defined Christopher was his resolve and unconditional support in celebration the accomplishments of others. He used few words to illicit many thoughts and many words when thoughts were few.
Christoher is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle sibling and friend, who wanted the best for everyone he encountered.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Lewis and his sister, Hazel Lewis Boatswain.
Christopher is survived by his wife, Angela Edwards-Lewis; sons: Clyde (Sabrina) Lewis and Christophe Lewis; grandchildren: Melissa Lewis, Isaac Lewis and Sarina Lewis and siblings: Sydney (Carmen) Lawrence, Anthony Lewis, Patricia (Franklyn) Lewis-Belasco and Winston Lewis and a loving, extended family.
