Dorothy Patricia “Pat” Freiwald passed away peacefully in Weston, Florida, on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. Pat was born in Chicago, November 12, 1929.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Joseph Leo Freiwald, their six children; Patrick , Thomas , Clifford, Joan, Margaret, and Barbara; eleven grandchildren, John Freiwald, Vanessa Anderson, Joseph Freiwald, Patricia Hachar, Craig Freiwald, Katelyn Newcomb, Shellsea Hernandez, Tiffany Geisland, Nathan Olsen, Neil Olsen and Kimberly Olsen, her beloved great grandchildren Trenton Freiwald, Isabella Hachar and Amelia Hachar, and her younger sister, Cynthia Gabriel Gennell. She was predeceased by sister Colleen Spurling, brother Michael Gabriel, and parents Harry and Dorothy Gabriel.
She was a member of the Jacksonville Civil Air Patrol during high school and attended Florida State University, where she met her future husband, Leo. Pat was an art teacher at South Beach Elementary. She was an avid gardener and member of the Fairchild Tropical Gardens Society. She was a wonderful mother to her six children, known for her generosity and truly living by the Golden Rule.
Funeral arrangements are at Boyd Panciera Funeral Care, 1600 North University Drive, Pembroke Pines, FL, 33021. The memorial gathering will be held from 6 to 9 PM on Saturday, October 20, 2018. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to the Sylvester
Comprehensive Cancer Center. Donations should be noted as in memory of Dorothy Freiwald, and sent to Sylvester Development Office, P O Box 016960 (M-867), Miami, FL 33101. Arrangements entrusted to Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, University Drive Chapel.
