February 17, 1920~July 25, 2014

Ella Holtz Stubbs Dumdei, born on February 17, 1920, outside Janesville, Minnesota. My mother died 6 days after I was born. My father, Hugo Holtz, along with my sister Tillie and her husband Paul Mann raised me on the farm. When I was 6 years old my dad married Helen and they lived on the farm. Paul, Tillie and I moved into the small town where I graduated Valedictorian. I married Gerald Stubbs on June 17, 1942. We moved around to Military Bases until he shipped out of California. As a Mess Hall Sergeant he fed the soldiers thus avoiding the front lines. Joining some ladies I met we settled in South Florida. Living in a small trailer. In 1945, Jerry came home safe. We started a family, built a home in North Miami. We had 3 children, Wayne, Neal and Cheryl. In 1977, we were divorced. I went back for my 50-year class reunion. I met again my girlfriend’s brother, Gordon Dumdei. His wife had died the year before. We fell in love and married in September of 1988. There has been health issues, which we helped each other get through. We sit in our recliners and hold hands. Life has been good. Gordon and I traveled north to Minnesota for the summers and to South Florida for the winters. Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 27, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. at Boyd-Panciera University Drive Chapel.
