Mathews, Francis T., 75, passed away Monday, September 28, 2009. He was born in Hinsdale, Massachusetts on January 19, 1934, son of the late Francis and Mary Mathews. He graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1951, where he was captain of the baseball team. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He worked as a lineman for Western Massachusetts Electric Company until his retirement. Fran was an avid sports fan with a phenominal memory for players and statistics. He had a great sense of humor and was always ready with a good story. Two of his favorite things to do were visiting his grandchildren on holidays and taking trips to Saratoga every August. He is survived by his wife Joan, two daughters Sheila Jones of Altamonte Springs, Florida and Julie Mathews of Davie, Florida and six grand children Amy, Eli, Josh, Jesse, Brittany, and Angel. One brother Thomas Mathews of Dalton, Massachusetts. One niece Mary and a Nephew Kevin. He is predeceased by a daughter Theresa Eberhardt of Pembroke Pines, Florida. There will be a Memorial Service at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care at 11:00 AM October 11, 2009. Burial will be at Hollywood Memorial Gardens Cemetery near his daughter Theresa.
