Gerald Munford Pinder, Jr., 80, a U.S. Army Veteran, of Hollywood, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 20, 2014, after a courageous battle with a long illness. Gerald was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Ruth Pinder. He is survived by his sons, Gerald Pinder III, Steven Pinder, Jeffrey Pinder and Anthony Pinder; daughters, Debra Van Etveldt and Andrea Michie; and numerous grandchildren.

I never met my Aunt Ruth and her husband Gerald. But my parents Marianne (1935-2012, Ruth’s twin sister) and Ernst visited them in Florida in the early 2000s. Gerald and Ruth visited Ruth’s native Heilbronn, Germany after so many years, Ernst passed away yesterday (March 26, 2021). In his last days in hospital he talked a lot about his trip to Florida, where Gerald showed him around. They did not understand each other’s language, but still they communicated.
