Korol, Gladys Rosario, 70, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all and passionate about the search for meaning, and a purposeful and God driven life, passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, December 11, 2019. Born Gladys Rosario Martinez, on October 11, 1949 to Concepcion Vega Diaz and Antonio Martinez Alvarez, in Havana, Cuba, but settled in the United States at the age of 11, obtained her citizenship, graduated La Imaculada Concepcion Cathomic High School, and called Miami, Florida home.

She was a devoted mother who made her daughters tul-laced dresses by hand and each year painted their bedrooms with a different childhood “theme” that featured a special fondness for character “Holly Hobbie.” Throughout her life her artistic talents followed, as evidenced by her fashionista style, her international taste in home decor, and a flare for all things colorful, exotic, and uniquely her. Once, her artistry caught the attention of the Queen (yes “the” Queen of England) who invited her to make a one of a kind derby hat for her Majesty.

As an adult, she excelled at business, helped found a large maritime company, and later opened her own freight forwarding business, charmingly called “Glad Freight” – quite an accomplishment and bold move at a time when freight forwarding was a Male dominated profession. Later in life she embarked on a new career path, real-estate, where she befriended countless colleagues, clients, and others, joyfully bringing many to the love and light of God.

Gladys leaves behind daughters Gladys Marie, Jeannie, and Evelyn, their husbands, Jorge, Steve and Juan, sister Marlen and her husband Jorge, and her eight amazing grandchildren, Julien, Jordyn, Melanie, Alexandria, Joshua, Samantha, Jacob and sweet Amaly.

The celebration of life for Gladys Korol takes place December 14, 2019, from 5pm to 8pm, with a memorial service starting promptly at 7pm at the Boyd-Panciera Hollywood Chapel located at 6400 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, Florida 33024.
