I am so sad… and I am so sorry! As Sister Gloria said, we will pray for him as he is playing his music for the Lord. May God fill your heart with the strength you need in such difficult times. I am thankful for the opportunity of having met Jacob and witnessing how loving and giving he was during his mission trip to El Salvador.

Jake was my goofy younger cousin. As a kid he was a string bean with big teeth always making funny faces in pictures. When he moved to south Florida I was excited to have a new friend and family member to hang out with. Jake would come over my house and play guitar and hang out with my brother James. They would go to the skate park all the time, Jake was really good. I was so impressed that he could ride the half pipe. I never had the guts or skill. I like to remember the summer in high school when Jake, Nikki, and a few of our friends went to Mayhem Festival a metal concert and Jake got to crowd surf, we had so much fun together that day. I saw Jake less when we both went to college but he always came over during school breaks. He was a great guy and cousin and he will be missed.

I had met Jake during my first semester at UNF, Fall of 2009. I also met most of the friends I know on campus through Jake and the many times we would all hang out on campus. He was definitely one friend that would have always been there for anyone. UNF just is not going to be the same anymore.

When I found out we would be attending college together I was pretty excited to being going to school with someone I knew already. We only got to hang 2 or 3 times up at UNF but I saw you everyday cause you lived right next door. You would always smile when I walked by and say hello and ask when we were gonna hang out.I now regret everyday I had to say no. It’s gonna be weird walking by “the cove” building V and not seeing your smiling face next year. When I found out the person in the crash by my house was you I was heart broken, but then I realized we would have one more amazing angel up there watching over everyone. Maybe someone more important needed you up in heaven to skate in the best skate park you could ever imagine and play guitar down to the whole world. I’m going to miss you Jake. RIP, you will always be in my thoughts and prayers.Love Always, Red

Jacob was one of the most unique, funniest guys i have ever hung out with. So many inside jokes my friends and I share about him still. I remember meeting him first in my guitar class in 9th grade. He was one of the advanced guitarists; very talented! Later in the year, me, Jake, and my 2 other best friends would go out and chill and party. Me and Jake would jam out in his car to Guns N Roses. We had so much fun together. I can’t believe it was him in that crash literally outside my neighborhood. I wish we could’ve hung out one last time. His phrases are still stuck in my head till this day. “Give me the lighter” “I need your mom’s socks” “Don’t spill the precious” and more…Jake, you left an impact in my mind and heart; you will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Suzanne and Family,

My condolences goes out to you and your family in your time of sorrow. Jacob had just called the week prior at Tree Tops Parks stating that he was interested in reapplying for a summer position. His last question to me was, “Do you remember me?” I replied yes, as you never forget someone that could bring a smile to your face. Jacob will always be remembered and may God continue to bless and strenghten you and your family.

Jake, I loved having you under my wing like my own, to love, hug, and care. God’s gift to me. I gave me so much joy to be part of your life. I would give the world for you and I know you knew that. You could always count on your Aunt Phyllis. I was in 100%. This was your 2nd home and I was your 2nd mother. I am so proud of you and love to hear you play that guitar like you were on center stage in the middle of my living room. I love to talk to you and listen to you talk. I caught your lucky pick and gave it to James. Good one Jake. Your memory will live on in my heart and I am so excited to know I will see you again in heaven. In the meantime, keep visiting. I can’t see you but I feel your presence. I love you so much. Aunt Phyllis

Dear Suzanne, Andy and family,

May the Good Lord help you through this difficult time, and may His loving arms cradle and care for you, just as He is doing for Jake.

As grateful parents of students that Suzanne taught and mentored in the classroom and drama club at St. Gregory the Great School, we send you our sincere condolences. All parents attempt to send our children forth with the best possible values and parenting possible. We then stand back and are amazed that they travel to El Salvador, or make beautiful music, or create moments of magic on stage or otherwise bring to this world something special, something unforgettable, something uniquely theirs. We are sure that your son did all of those things for you, and we are deeply sorry he has been called home to God so soon. May the peace of our Lord be with you all.

Sincere condolences,

The Cabrera Family

We are so sorry to hear about Jake, he was a great kid, we are so glad we had the honor to know him. We always had a good time when we were all together, whether it was going to a play, or running late picking him up from the skate park. I never had the honor of knowing Jacob, but I do know Nikki, and if Jacob was anything like his sister, he was a cool, sweet dude. Nothing anyone says can remove the pain, sorrow, and hurt that has become your lives right now. You just have to remember all of the wonderful times you had with Jake, and be open to feeling him in your lives. Life never lasts, but memories do. Cherish them as you cherished Jacob. My love is with you whenever you need it, and even when you don’t.

Suzanne,

I could not make it to see you today, but I heard how strong you are being and how beautiful a tribute you had prepared for Jake.

You were so proud of Jake. I remember how I told you how smart he was when I went over math with him – I so enjoyed spending time with him! I was so happy to know he had done well. :-

My son even remembers him at the skate park! He was and is a bright soul. May you find the peace that I know he would want for his mom.

I remember when Jacob was just a little boy, he was always at my house while you went to school and worked, playing with Kayla. He was in my wedding, as the ring bearer, walking down the aisle with Kayla. He was always a bundle of joy.

My heart hurts for you, Sue, and your family. I can’t imagine the pain you are feeling. My thoughts and prayers are always with you. Lots of hugs…
