I will miss Grand Uncle Jacques sorely especially our animated phone conversations revolving around personal, family, and secular themes. He was a pundit on the history of the Chenet’s family. During the late 50s to the ’60s, Grand Uncle Jacques home was “Ellis Island” since he sponsored and brought most of his siblings along with their respective wives and children including my late grandmother Eugenie Chenet to America. I remember the tranquil summers spent at his Sag Harbor summer house which was a stone’s throw away from a private sandy beach! Grand niece Michele CA

When I moved to New York from Haiti at 15 years of age, for my first year I lived with Jacques and Pearl who treated me like family. I will be coming to the memorial, but in the meantime, Larry & I send our heartfelt condolences to the family.

My children, Brijette, Jacques Andrew ‘Drew and I were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my father-in-law and their grandfather. Our sadness was unfortunately multiplied by only finding out of this loss by accident. We are pleased however that ‘Drew’s daughter, Christina was mentioned in her great grandfather’s obituary. We fondly remember our relationship from the past and will think of these times often. I know that my Jacques along with his brother Adrien, are greeting their father as he enters into glory. May the Chenet family put aside any past resentments and misunderstandings to heal after having suffered this loss.

Although I didn’t know Jacques Chenet personally, I wish to extend my sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to all of the Chenet family in your loss. Jacques or Uncle Jacques as he was known to some was a very kind and supportive person. He was a gentle man and an intellectual who will be sorely missed. However, it is important that you remember that he instilled, in each and everyone of you, the desire and passion to follow your dreams and to become the best person that you can. He was an inspiration to all of us.

Sincerely,

A.D. Anthony Markey
