Janet Lennett, a beacon of love, music, and compassion, peacefully passed away at her home on August 25, 2026, at the age of 100 in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Born on October 22, 1925, in Philadelphia, PA, Janet was the cherished daughter of Samuel and Reba Boos. Her journey through life was marked by incredible resilience, a heart full of kindness, and an unwavering zest for life.

Janet’s early years were spent in Philadelphia, where she graduated from Olney High School in 1942. It was shortly after her graduation that she met the love of her life, Julius (John) Lennett. They married on November 30, 1944, and embarked on a journey filled with love, laughter, and endless adventures. Together, they explored various small business ventures and created a life rich in memories and traveling all over the world.

A talented musician, Janet’s gift for music was evident as an active member of the Abington choral club, where her voice resonated beautifully. Later, she shared her passion for piano by teaching seniors at the local community center. For over 70 years, Janet was an avid player of both classical and popular music, often losing herself in the melodies that brought her immense joy such as Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and Mozart. Her love for music was rivaled only by her love for literature, particularly the works of John Grisham and David Baldacci.

Janet’s career took a delightful turn when she became a secretary for Dr. Audrey Stein at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, with whom she formed a lifelong friendship. Dr. Stein was not just a boss, but a confidante and a cherished companion in Janet’s journey.

Her home was always filled with warmth and laughter, especially when she danced to the music of the 1940s with her beloved husband, despite his two left feet. Janet was known for her kind demeanor and her ability to listen with both her heart and mind—a quality that endeared her to everyone she met.

Janet was predeceased by her sister Helen, brother Harry, and daughter Janice. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: daughter Stephanie Young, her devoted son Michael and his wife Kay, her nephew Harvey and his wife Mercedes, and her treasured grandchildren Jonathan, Jennifer Tanchez, and William Young. Janet was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Emilia, who called her Nana and brought her immense joy in her later years.

In her final days, Janet was surrounded by the care and compassion of the wonderful hospice staff from AccentCare, to whom the family extends their heartfelt gratitude.

A private ceremony will be held to celebrate Janet’s remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, donations in Janet’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice, honoring her legacy of kindness and love.
