Dear Josephine and family:

To say that our hearts are broken would be an understatement. John was an extraordinary friend and neighbor and I’m sure the entire community is shocked and saddened by his passing. I cannot even imagine a day without seeing his smile and hearing him say to me, “Another beautiful day in Harmony Lakes!” He was also the gatekeeper of so many of our homes and always had our house key in the event of an emergency. He tended to our home when we were out of town and got the mail and paper. We trusted John with everything– so rare in today’s world. He always spoke of the grandchildren with such love and laughter. One of the happiest days we saw John was at Diane and Daniel’s wedding– oh, how proud he was! But it is the small everyday moments that we will miss him the most– seeing him riding his bike, scooter, golf cart…. Just waving or stopping to chat about what’s new in the neighborhood. We’ll miss bringing him jelly or candy from up north when we visit our families. To know him was to love him, and we really did love John.

We pray for all of you in your time of sadness and will be there for you just like John was there for us. Please call upon us if you need anything.

Much love,

Annie and Basil Galiano

Our heartfelt sympathy to the family during this difficult time. May you find comfort and peace with each other and with the community that loved him.

We, ourselves, are very upset at the loss of our friend and neighbor. I can still see him at the garage door waiving Hello. These last several days, I catch myself looking over to the house and an overwhelming sense of sadness washes over. John always let us know “the checks are here” when the mailman had already stopped by. If you took a day off from work and were at the pool, he would always ask “Doesn’t anybody work around here?” No playing hooky around John, he would catch you! It seemed like we always had to compete with John regarding giving treats to our kids. John’s were either better or “colder” or had more chocolate. Our little ones know that there is another angel in heaven watching over them.

He was a presence in Harmony Lakes that cannot be matched. Prayers go out to his family and all who loved him.
