Jose Luis Matton, 80, of Fort Lauderdale, died Thursday August 25th, 2011.
He was born to the late Luis and Juana Matton, July. 31, 1931, in New York, NY. Jose graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in 1948 and received a BS in Chemical Engineering from Villanova University in 1952. Jose also served in the US Army from 1953 -1954.
He met his wife Leticia Fontan in 1961 while teaching in Uruguay, and the two embarked on their 49 year marriage which took them to Puerto Rico, California and New Jersey before retiring in Fort Lauderdale.
Jose worked as a Production Supervisor with Ethicon until he retired in 1994. Jose will be remembered as a lay historian and avid reader – constantly pushing the limits of his knowledge. His interests included travel, spending time with his grandchildren, great food, working with his hands, and a good puzzle. Jose loved to laugh – and loved through laughter.
Jose is survived by wife, Leticia; sons, LuisDianaMugnani, Gonzalo Janet Matton; daughters, Lillian Mugnani, Teresita Mohamad Pointer, Janine Robert Matton, Veronica Stanley Iwanski, and Andrea Bradley Matton; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
