Kenneth Winston Keating, 90, of Hollywood, passed away August 15, 2019.
He was born May 11, 1929 in Manchester, Jamaica to Ripton Vincent Keating and Louise Agatha Keating. While in Jamaica, he attended St. George’s College and Kingston Tech. He migrated from Jamaica to Freeport, Bahamas in 1968. He was recruited by a certified accounting firm in Jamaica and relocated to Freeport to work for The Grand Bahama Port Authority (GBPA). GBPA is the Bahamian Government’s authorized developer of the island of Grand Bahama. He was assigned as the accountant for Lucas Service Company Limited, a subsidiary of GBPA. He attended the only place of worship that was in the newly developed city of Freeport. He also played cricket, soccer and bowling. Most importantly, he enjoyed fishing there. He was also an active member of the Bahamas Junior Chamber of Commerce (JAYCEES).
In 1973, GBPA sent him to Miami for work. Soon after, he met his future wife, Beryl Williams. They got married November 1975. Later on, he worked for Ryder Corporation for 17 years before he retired in 1996.
His favorite hobbies were golfing and fishing. He also loved to sketch anything from birds to flowers. He enjoyed taking out his wife, Beryl, to see all of the entertainers who came to Miami Beach in the 70’s. Most of all, he really enjoyed taking cruises with her and other close friends.
He was a very kind and generous person, always willing to help anyone in need. He saved two people from drowning, one in the lake behind our house and one on Key Biscayne. He has stopped to help stranded motorists more than once. When he gave to homeless people on the street, he wouldn’t just give one dollar, he would give twenty. He would say “what can one dollar buy?”.
He is survived by his wife, Beryl, of 43 years; his daughter, Andrea Barrios and her husband, Orlando; grandsons, Brandon Barrios and Jordan Barrios, and granddaughter, Kirsten Barrios; nephew, Courtney; nieces, Maria, Suzette and Ruth-Ann.
Friends may visit from 4:00-8:00 PM, Friday, August 30th, with a prayer and “Tributes of a Lifetime” service scheduled for 7:30 PM at Boyd-Panciera Hollywood Blvd. Chapel located at 6400 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, FL 33024. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, August 31st, at Visitation Catholic Church.
He was a kind, generous, and loving person that will be missed by all who knew him.
May he Rest In Peace

To absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord. His love for us, is greater than we can ever understand.
