Lewis Jordan, 93, died peacefully on July 25, 2020. He was born on the 8th of April, 1927 to Benjamin and Doris Mednicov in Brockton, Massachusetts. As a child, he lived in Brooklyn N.Y. and attended Lincoln High School where he was a member of the basketball team. As an adult, he attended Brooklyn College and Westminster College. He also attended Yale University.  In 1945, he enlisted and served in the Navy during the World War II.

Lewis’s family moved to Miami Beach, Florida in the late 1940’s and opened a canvas awning company. He once provided an awning for President Clinton that he was especially proud of. He was a patrol with the Florida Highway Patrol and an officer with the Miami Beach Police Department. He enjoyed serving his community and his country. He enjoyed hunting deer and antelope, deep sea fishing, traveling the world, and playing golf. He loved to make spaghetti and hamburgers. He was well loved by everyone he met and his family.

He is survived by his wife Rita Jordan, his sister Barbara Schuman and her husband Raymond Schuman, his daughter Crystal Alvarez and her husband Pete Alvarez, His daughter Andrea Donohue and her husband Dennis Donohue, his daughter Maria Cavanugh and her husband Robert Cavanaugh, his daughter Holly Fortunato and her husband Nick Fortunato, his son Alex Jordan and his wife Ruth Jordan, and his daughter Pilar Espinosa and her husband Luis Iglesias He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He loved his family deeply who miss him.

A Public Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 beginning at 3:00 PM.  A Religious Service will start at 5:00 PM at Boyd-Panciera Funeral Home; 6400 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, Florida 33024.   

Please note modifications are in place regarding Visitation and Services due to the Coronavirus . Boyd-Panciera is following all local and state guidelines and is taking all the necessary precautions to ensure the safety and health to our families and staff to halt the spread of COVID-19.  Social Distancing and Face Masks are in effect.
