Maura Bridget Foote (nee Dowling) was born on March 24, 1930 and sadly passed away suddenly on Friday January 8, 2021 at the age of 90.  Born in Ireland to Joe and Josephine Dowling in the small town of Mountrath, Co. Laois.

Maura spent her childhood in Ireland before leaving for London, England where she met her beloved husband Robert Foote of Cornwall, England.  They fell in love and married in London in July 1962, shortly after which they emigrated to Miami, Florida and together, they had their treasured son Robert Foote Jr, known lovingly as Bobby to his family and friends.  Maura treasured her family and was sadly predeceased by her son Robert Jr. in January 2012 and several months later by her husband Robert Sr.  Maura was a wonderful, kind, intelligent and gentle person who was full of love and compassion.

She loved children, books and her Irish heritage.  A special place held in her heart for her dear friend Elaine Killeen of Surfside, Florida.  Thank you Elaine for your many years of friendship and love to Maura.  I know how much you’ll miss her.  Maura will also be missed by her dear friends and colleagues who became her friends at the Seaview Hotel, Bal Harbour where she worked for many happy years on the switchboard.  Maura made many friends at her previous residence, The Arlen House, notably Diana Antonello her neighbour and Paul, owner of the store.

Maura’s family wish to thank all of you for being so kind, caring and compassionate to her.  Maura leaves behind her loving sisters and their families, Lilian Shanahan, Toronto Canada; Madeleine Hurley, Toronto Canada; Helen O’Flynn, Dublin Ireland; Rosaleen Cardin, Brighton England; Carmel De’ Prazer of Leicester England and Elsie Murphy, Windsor Canada.  Thank you to the wonderful staff at Miami Jewish Health for their kindness and compassion to Maura throughout the last year of her life.
