Melila Cadet

February 08, 1938~June 10, 2023

February 08, 1938 – June 10, 2023

Melila Cadet age 85 passed away peacefully at University of Miami Hospital, surrounded in prayer and song by her four children. She was born in Giunaudee (Jean-Rabel), Haiti to the late Vonelie Pierre-Louis and Riviere Nelson.

Melila met and married the love of her life, Mesinor C. Cadet at Saint Monfort Catholic Church on July 25, 1963. Their blessed union produced 4 amazing and unique children; Edna Cadet-Kennedy (Ron), Edlyne Cadet, Emmanuel Cadet and Elie Cadet (Jacqueline). After 18 years of marriage Melila, lost her one true love, Mesinor. This devoted mother said she would never remarry out of respect for the one man she said that no one could ever replace, and she never did.

Melila was a dedicated member of Bethany Baptist Church of Miami. She was active in the women’s Sunday School class, Dorcas. She held the distinction of being the oldest deaconess and one of the oldest church and choir members. She even became the choir president at one point.

To support the children left in her care, this young widow worked as a nurse’s aide. Everyone always described her as a sweet lady with a kind, servant heart. She was known to her small group as “The Queen”. She leaves behind a wonderful legacy of faith.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Hubert R. Nelson, and Pedro Nelson.

She is survived by her children; grandchildren Alexandra, Chanson, Emmanuel “Mezi” and Gabriel; nieces Michelle, Daphne, Anite, Martha, and Camelta; nephews Jacques, Jr. and Andy; numerous cousins, other relatives, church family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 17th, 2023, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Cooper City Church of God located at 9191 Stirling Road, Cooper City, Florida, 33328. ” Avec Jesus tout va
bien.” I would always hear those words from you whenever I called. Marraine, your faith never wavered even throughout your illness. What a great testimony! I will always miss you but I find comfort in 2 Cor 5:8
KJV.
