Nelson Monroe Sr. was a huge jokester, who loved to bring laughter and joy to all people he touched throughout his lifetime. He was the light of every gathering with family and friends. He passed away on Tuesday, December 15th, 2020.
He was born in Peru in 1941 and came to the USA as a teenager to get a chance at the American dream. Became a proud American and worked in the textile industry rising to the position of Head Dyer. He learned to speak, read and write English as well as Italian while working in textiles. Throughout the years he became the Italian to English language interpreter for his co-workers. He worked until his full retirement age and then moved to South Florida to enjoy the sunshine and be close to his daughter and family.
He loved listening to many types of musical genres and getting his grandkids to appreciate old style music. He loved Elvis, Tom Jones, Paul Anka, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons as well as Salsa and Peruvian classics. His other great passion was soccer, whether it was coaching or watching his beloved Peruvian National Soccer team.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, son, daughter, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 32 nieces and nephews and countless other relatives and friends. He will be truly missed as the best husband, dad, grandpa, uncle and friend. Even as we are saddened by his passing, we are left with an abundance of memories that bring us laughter and joy. He would want us to always remember him laughing and telling jokes.
