Nestor Olmedo Villacis Jara, age 84, was born in Riobamba, Ecuador. He was lovingly raised by his parents, Julio and Carmelina, alongside his six siblings. From a young age, he cultivated a strong work ethic, facing every challenge life presented with unwavering strength and determination. Nestor pursued a career in Business Administration, where he excelled and made a lasting impact through his dedication as the CEO of one of the most important hospitals in Ecuador.
During vacations, he loved taking his family on long road trips across the country to visit extended family and explore new places. His life was defined by selflessness. He was a strict but loving father, driven by a desire to teach his sons the importance of education. He wanted them to become professionals who could excel and achieve more than he ever had the opportunity to. As a handyman, dad was the ultimate “DIY Disaster” waiting to happen. Whether it was playing Operation with the house’s wiring, performing surgery on the blender, or “fixing” the car with sheer willpower and duct tape, he was on the case. In the end, his “masterpieces” usually concluded with the same final step: swallowing his pride and calling a real professional to fix the messes he just made.
We firmly believe that our Heavenly Father has welcomed an extraordinary soul—someone who surrendered to His love and offered his imperfections to Him, allowing himself to be molded into the man he was destined to be. For more than a decade, he avidly read the Scriptures, taking meticulous notes as he sought to learn as much as possible about God’s perfect plan. He knew that in God’s infinite love he would be embraced, and that through His grace, any path could be made right.
He deeply desired to knock on doors and spread the Gospel, but as his memory faded, this became a difficult task to fulfil. Now, we are certain he is the missionary he always dreamed of being, guiding our family from the other side of the veil and continuing his spiritual work. He is reunited with those who went before him, including his beloved mother and father; his best friend and wife, Elsa Piedad; his siblings Cesar, Estuardo, and Wacho; his nephew Army Cpl. Jorge Emmanuel; and his cherished son, Juan Carlitos I, who now has the privilege of finally enjoying the love of his mother and father to the fullest once again.
Nestor, you will be forever missed, but we will honor your memory by treasuring the beautiful moments we shared with you. It was a privilege to witness your transformation, a living testimony to the perfect plan of a loving Heavenly Father. We will strive to follow in your footsteps, carrying your strength and smile with us, even when life feels overwhelming. We find comfort in knowing that you are in a better place, watching over us and waiting with open arms until the day comes when our family will be whole again. With deepest love to our “Roblecito”, your sons: David, Petter, Juan Carlos, and Jose Luis.
