Marín, Norma G. García, 95, died Sunday, February 15, 2015 in Coral Springs, FL after a 3 month struggle with a brain tumor. Prior to Coral Springs, she resided in Hialeah, FL for 57 years 1956-2013. She had 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was born Laura Norma García-Oller November 12, 1919 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico to Jose Leocadio García-Bastides of Anasco, PR and Petra Laura Oller-Monclova of Bayamon, PR. In 1941, she married Ignacio Guerrero-Noble Don Nacho – orchestra leader and pianist, deceased of Dorado, PR and had two sons Mario Ignacio Guerrero Sandra 3 grandchildren Juan John Carlos Meryl, Norma Lucia, and Michael Guerrero and the late Jose Luis Guerrero Helma, deceased 2 grandchildren Jose Luis Cindy and Roland Guerrero Marybeth. They divorced in 1946. In 1950, Norma married Jose Marín-Seijo Flight Engineer, deceased of Arecibo, PR and had a son, Jose Marín, Jr. Fiancée Jun. Norma lost Jose Marín in 1970 from a tragic aircraft accident in New Jersey and never remarried.
Her siblings were Jose L. García-Oller Mary Ann, MD and Irma García de Serrano, PhD Raul, all deceased. Nieces and nephews are María Kron Frederick, Jose García II, Teresa Payne, Margarita Sims Jay, Antonio García Mary, the late Ana Burr Robin, and Irma Serrano-García, PhD Carlos Gorrín. JD. Great grandchildren are all Guerreros Jared, Rebecca, Andrew, Jordan, Mason, Kathleen, Kyle, Jake, Ivy, and Liam.
She worked as a multi-lingual stenographer, secretary, office manager into her 80’s, and was a dedicated mother throughout her life in San Juan, PR, New York City, NY, and Miami, FL areas.
In lieu of a memorial, the family and friends celebrated her life by visiting and expressing their love for Norma during her illness. At Norma’s request, her body is being donated for medical education with the Anatomical Board of South Florida; arrangements with Boyd-Panciera Funeral Care, Hollywood, FL.
