Prefet Jean-Louis

August 06, 1952~September 15, 2021

Prefet Jean-Louis, Husband, father, friend and child of God was born on August 6th, 1952 in the beautiful and rich country of Haiti. A nation of people who fought for their independence and won against their oppressors. A nation of strong-minded and passionate people. His loving parents Daisse and Profet Jean-Louis, we believed, instilled in him a strong spirit of determination.

While growing up in Haiti, Prefet served in the Haitian Law Enforcement and had two beautiful daughters, Marie Jose and Mirlande. He knew he wanted more and better for his daughters.

So, in the 80’s, when Haiti was in turmoil, Prefet was so bold and brave that he traveled to the United States of America in search of a better life for himself and his girls.

And that he did! He started working as a migrant farm worker in a small town called, Belle Glade in Florida and that is where he met the love of his life, Marie Elaine Pierre. The two connected and never separated and had a precious baby girl, Marie Denise.

While living in the U.S., Prefet was a proud and faithful member of Christian Missionary Church of Miami, under the leadership of Pastor Jean Jean Pierre, he served for more than 25 years. He served his church in many different capacities. He served as one of the Deacons, Ushers, Treasurers, Driver, Maintenance worker and in his final days, he was a member of the church choir.

Unfortunately, during the most turbulent and challenging times in our country’s history, Prefet contracted COVID and on Wednesday, September 15th, 2021, he passed due to complications of COVID19.

Prefet is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 38 years, Marie Elaine Jean-Louis; his children Woody Pierre, Marie Jose Jean-Louis, Mirlande Etienne and Marie Denise Simmons; his grandchildren Tyrel Johnson, Christopher Etienne, Steven Etienne, Amandah Christophe, Christian Simmons, Solomons Simmons, Hannah Calixte and JnLanie Etienne; and his great-grandchildren Ahmir Johnson, Ahlija Johnson and Zy’erra Johnson.

A funeral service is scheduled on Saturday, October 2nd at 11am at The Bridge Church located on 9300 Pembroke Rd, Miramar, FL 33025.

Arrangements entrusted to Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, Hollywood Chapel.
