It is with deep sadness that Reginald (Reggie) Stanislaus Lopes, age 80, passed away peacefully in Pembroke Pines, Florida on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Reggie was born in Georgetown, British Guyana on July 10, 1939 to Reginald and Ernestine Lopes.

Reggie was educated at Mount St Mary’s College in England, where after completing his education, moved backed to Guyana. He eventually opened his own company with his wife, Cheryl Lopes, in the field of imports and exports. An ardent lover of fishing and hunting, his passion always involved a fishing lure, a shot gun, and a good glass of scotch. Reggie was a loving spouse and father, who handled his life with the upmost integrity and was loved deeply by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl (they were married for more than 54 wonderful years); two of his three children Michaela Lopes Teixeira and Reginald Lopes Jr.; his 5 grandchildren, Brianna Belmonte, Aidan Belmonte, Christian Lopes Teixeira, Noah Lopes Teixeira and Matthew Lopes; and his sisters, Desiree De Abreu, Barbara Bond, Gloria Lyons; and brother, Victor Lopes. Reggie predeceased his daughter, Natalie Lopes Belmonte, along with his three other siblings Mary, Cynthia and Gerard.

At his request, his ashes will be brought back to his forever home, Guyana, and scattered in the Abary and Mahaicony Creeks, the Esequibo River and his most beloved Rupununi.

He is now resting peacefully with the Lord.
