Rena Anthony died peacefully on Saturday December 2 at 3:30. She was surrounded by family. Born Ettorina Micone, October 5, 1920, 97 years ago. She said her mom named her for an French Warrior. She married Bill Anthony, and most folks will tell you he believed she was his queen and warrior! She is the “last of the Mohegans” as she loved to point out, the last of ten children. Funny, feisty and beautiful, she had all her faculties until the end. We were fortunate to have been able to share that with her. She was our link to a generation that is now gone. A generation that was proud, hard working and lived the American dream. She leaves her children, Frank, Noreen and Debbie, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and probably 100 great, great, great nieces and nephews. She will be missed and we will carry her in our minds and hearts forever.

Dear Rena, I am so glad you were in my life. I have many memories from when my son was a little boy and visiting in New Jersey up to the beautiful wedding of your grand daughter on the beach in Florida last year. You, with your walker made it across the sand at age 96, as it was not something you wanted to miss. And, you looked beautiful !! I will be forever inspired by your strength, sharp mind, and perseverance. May you be forever in peace. With Love, Martha
