Our sincerest condolences go out to our dear friend Lynda and her family. We met Dick many years ago when we started attending HOA meetings for our community. Dick and Lou became friends and were on the board together. They were the dynamic duo that made our community a better place to live. Dick,Lynda, Lou and I had great fun planning & riding in our HOA Christmas Parade and shared many a meal together. Dick will be greatly missed and we have a hole in our hearts tonight.

37 years ago I was hired at Florida Power & Light Company by Dick Thomas. I worked in the Payroll Department for 22 years under Dick’s supervision. Coming from a small business, I never worked in the Corporate World until FPL. During my time working in Payroll, Dick helped me and coped with my sometimes immature ways, never losing faith that I could change. His professionalism and happy personality helped me understand where he was guiding me.I truly believe that God’s plans are perfect, even if to us they are not! The things I share in this Memory Book have been abridged, but God gave me the opportunity to express to Dick personally a couple of years ago what he represented in my personal life. Although, I no longer worked under him, he was still someone to look up to and honored to say he was my friend!

I join Dick’s family at this time of sorrow, but rejoice in knowing that while he was with us, he made this a better place. But now, God has him in a better place!

In memory of Dick Thomas,

This is not the way I wanted our friendship to end. We’ve heard that when God takes someone young it is because he, God, has immediate need for ones services.

Dick, I know served his earthly life and responsibilities well, also with honor. He was a true gentelman, good husband, and was respected by everyone who knew him.

Persoanlly I will miss Dick very much. He was like the brother I never had. I’ve known Dick since he first came to work at FPL. And over the years we have remained good friends, enjoying our many conversations, with some jovial good laughs. You can bet on that!

Dick,,, I will see you again someday, I’m sure.

Your friend,,,,, Emory

Richard Dick was my supervisor @ FPL. He was a kind man. I remember when he had to make a decision who to let go in the year of 1993, his face was drawn and his heart was heavy. Although I have not seen him years, I am feeling a sense of sorrow, a feeling of loss. To the family: Take real delight and satifation in recalling the wonderful memories of times you shared with him. For now, He and God will enjoy good times in eternity together.

I was so saddened by the news as I grew up with “Mr. T”. I knew him from a very young age at Epworth United Methodist Church. Our families did many things together including camping. The Thomas Family was like my second family growing up. My sincere condolences to Mrs. T, Brian, Emily and Family. I believe that Mr.T. was the one who introduced me to the love of the ocean!, He took us kids out in his little bass boat during camping trips to fish and swim and just plain have a great time. I love fishing not that I eat much of it because of him. So many memories growing up and with the passing of Mr. T. it feels like I have lost part of my childhood. I know that he is at peace now and I am very thankful for that. My love to all his family and friends.

I knew Dick Thomas through work. He was a jovial man who was always smiling but also always professional. He was loved by many and will be sorely missed. Lynda, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers as you grieve and I’m sure that Dick’s soul is in good hands. I sincerely wish that I could have helped him more.

Dear Lynda, Emily & Brian,

We have great memories of our cruises & Keys trips that will last forever. Dick’s easy going ways put us all in vation mode from the get-go. We missed our Friday night dinner dates when you moved! His lasting legacy in our time together was his philosophy of “accountability”. He was a man of his word and deeds & lived by a great example. We are proud to have known Dick and call him a friend. Love, Sonia & Steve Farrow

The world has lost a truly wonderful man. Dick was one of the nicest people I have ever known. Kind to all, amazingly handy, caring and above all a family man first. I cannot believe he is gone so soon. In this life we will never know why some among us are taken too soon. I would say this to my cousin Lynda, Emily and Brian, God looks down and sees a soul so beautiful and pleasing that he wants that soul with him in heaven. I know Dick is at peace in heaven. I pray that your sorrow eases quickly and you remember only the good times you had together.

Lynda, Brian & Emily:

Memories….I remember being a junior bridesmaid in your wedding; the birth of Brian and then of Emily. Dick was such a wonderful addition to the family…the kindest man….he was in the category with another great man, my Dad, your Uncle Neil. Know that you were blessed to have him, though only a short while. Know that you have family who can help you at this most difficult and incomprehesible time, your Aunt Ida. Let her be a comfort and constant for you as she has been where you are for the past 37 years. You are in my heart, thoughts and prayers.

Your cousin,

Donna 907-841-9881
