On January 14, 1935 Robert was born in Soperton Georgia as the oldest of 10 siblings. He took pride in his role as a big brother. He attended school there as a child and later took up an early interest in music. Robert was very well known as an outstanding musician. We can definitely say he became a traveling musician at a very young age.
During his time of performance he met Onnie Mae McDowell, “The love of his life!” They were together for many decades until she preceded him in 2019. But during this time they travel from Miami Florida to Hawkinsville Georgia and finally travel to Knoxville/Chattanooga Tennessee. He was legendary at the Tennessee Aquarium where the they highly honored him.
Boot Roots/Nature Boy move to Miami Florida to live out the rest of his life. A couple years after relocating Robert transitioned his journey from Earth.
The legacy of Robert Montgomery will live on through his daughter’s Nuclair Montgomery (Rickey) Brown, Apollo (Alfred) Shelly Cimilien (mother). Beloved Steps; James Mayfield, Ruqaiyah (Ricardo) Steele, Johnny McDowell. Grandchildren Lewis, Ranisha, Ricky Jr, Gabriel, Jeremiah and Elon. Randy, Diamond (Mike) Williams, Alisha Ophar. Great grandchildren; Starr, Jirah, Bryce and Jamar. Siblings; Lillie Joyce (Edward) Bell, Yvonne Montgomery (Jimmy). Deceased but not forgotten Eulis, Albert, Hubert, Johnny, Eugene, Justine, Alma and Jeanette. Village of nieces, nephews, cousins, family friends and loved ones.
A Public Visitation will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM with a Religious Service beginning at 3:00 PM at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, 6400 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, Florida 33024.
