Tanya D. Yelvington, age 58, a long time resident of Deland, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, after a courageous battle against breast cancer. 

She was born on November 29, 1960, in Deland, Florida, one of five children born to Thurmon Yelvington and Estelle Dopson. Tanya was a lovely woman and was loved by all who knew her. 

She is survived by her son, Kenny Pearson; sisters, Teresa Diane Tellez and Linda Yelvington and her wife Belinda; brothers, Van Yelvington and Thurmon Yelvington, Jr. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kloee, Kalaha, Dylan and Derek Pearson and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, April 6, 2019, 11:00 a.m. at Blake Memorial Baptist Church in Lake Helen, Florida. 

Arrangements under the care of Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, Hollywood Boulevard Chapel.

I’m so saddened to hear this!! I met Tanya in 2001 at Lowell C.I. in group therapy. She was such a strong and driven person. I later met her again at Gadsden C.F. after she’d been diagnosed…she was a TRUE soldier throughout her entire sentence, even as far as workrealease. God bless her.

This breaks my heart !! She and i were friends for a long time at LCI and even after we became friends on FB. She was so sweet and yet so crazy ! Lol… She will be missed. I pray she will be another angel looking over me.
