Cook Virginia Mia was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 31, 1951 to Joseph Donald Cook Jr. and Lucille Marie Shrader Cook. She died on July 1, 2015, age 63, at her home in Gahanna, Ohio after seven months of valiantly battling liver disease. Ginny, as she was called by family, loved her family and was an integral part of their lives. The highlights of her life revolved around her nieces and nephews and continued with her grand-nieces and grand-nephew. Her hobbies included playing games, doing jigsaw puzzles, latch hook, and most of all growing orchids. Through Goodwill Vacations, she was thrilled to travel with friends to many distant places. Virginia enjoyed attending Goodwill SAGE, a program for disabled adults, which she called “my work”. Through this she developed a sense of independence and personal accomplishments. She was proud when she received achievement awards. She also belonged to a church group called “Me and My Friends” which she attended regularly on Thursday evenings. Through both of these programs, she enriched her life and made many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and survived by her sisters, Teresa John Woolley, Carol James Bacon, and Jacqueline Mark Breen; nieces, Elise, Tosha Tim, Julie, and Megan; nephews, Zach Karla, John and Mark Jr.; grand-nieces, a grand-nephew, aunts, an uncle, and many cousins. Family will receive friends on Monday, July 13, 2015, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, University Drive Chapel. Funeral Mass will start at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, followed by Interment at Hollywood Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family welcomes all the friends to join them after the burial for a Reception at the Masonic Hall in Silver Lakes, 927 NW 178th Avenue, Pembroke Pines, FL 33029 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Me and My Friends, Goodwill SAGE, or Vitas Healthcare Hospice.
