Walter Charles Miller III, age 73 years young, passed away Thursday, August 12th after contracting a rapidly debilitating form of ALS. He was born to Walter C. Miller. Jr. and Alice G. Miller on May 3rd 1948 in Freeport, New York and spent his childhood in Baldwin Harbor, Long Island. His mother passed away when he was six years old.
As a teen, he obtained his first job in a Freeport music store where he learned to repair and play many of the instruments sold. Later, he became a semi-professional photographer and created layout and product images for the shop’s catalogs as well as creating and printing portraits and stills for family, friends and clients. At this time, he married his first wife and had a son.
In 1976, Walter moved to Florida with his second family. Always interested in the latest in electronics, he worked in the expanding electronics field over the next few decades. CB radios and CB clubs, advanced stereo equipment, film, commercial productions – he did it all. In between everything, he earned his degree in computer programming and started one of the first computer bulletin boards in Hollywood. At this time, he also married his true soulmate, Marilyn, whom he lost in 2008 to illness.
Walter will be greeted in Heaven by his parents, his only sister Marjorie, his wife Marilyn and his first son Walter C. Miller IV. He will be missed by his son Christopher, his daughter Michelle from his first marriage, grandchildren, his niece, several grand-nieces and grand-nephews, his close friends and co-workers and the homeless cats that he sat with and fed every morning and evening without fail.
