William (Bill) Alfred Umlah

William (Bill) Alfred Umlah (90), of West Park passed away September 13 ,2019. A decorated war hero recognized with a Purple Heart in addition to many other military awards. Bill joined the Army out of high school and proudly served as an Infantryman. After serving in the Army, Bill then joined the Air Force and earned the rank of Tech Sergeant. Bill was his happiest spending time with his wife (Pamela) of 60 years and loved telling and sharing jokes.

Bill worked for Southern Bell as a Frame Technician for 20 years and had the opportunity to work at NOAA on the P3 Orion Hurricane Hunter. He dabbled in gardening, enjoyed to channel surf whenever possible, and loved to play Cribbage. One of his proudest achievements was raising his son and participating in his grandchildren’s lives.

Bill is survived by his wife, Pamela Umlah; son, WIlliam John Umlah, daughter-in-law, Linda Quinn; brother, Don Umlah (Vivian); sister-in-law, Jane Aucoin; grandchildren, Ashley Holst, Amy Umlah, and Eric Umlah; and great-grandchildren, William Holst, Ryan Holst, and Landon Holst.

Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, September 18th from 5:00-7:00 PM, with a “Tributes of a Lifetime” and Service beginning at 6:00 PM. Both taking place at Boyd-Panciera 6400 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, FL. Burial services will be conducted on Thursday, September 19th at 10:15 AM at the South Florida Military National Cemetery in Lake Worth.
