November 26, 1964~February 21, 2024

William (Bill) Sam Lubow-Anderson (59) passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 21., 2024. Bill was a very compassionate man who loved to make people laugh. He was a great storyteller, and each story had its own crazy, surprise ending. Bill’s smile and laughter always lit up the room and his presence is going to be greatly missed.

After growing up in West Miami and graduating from Sunset High School, Bill joined the United States Army and served his country proudly in Stuttgart, Germany. Upon returning to the states, Bill worked at Coconuts Comedy Club where he found his passion for making people laugh. A short time thereafter, he was asked to join the Coconuts Comedy Club Players Improv Group, making audiences laugh on a weekly basis.

Bill had his share of various jobs, but it was not until later in life that he found his true calling of becoming a Corrections Officer.   He was extremely proud (as were his family and friends) of earning his Commission as a Corrections Officer with the Florida Department of Corrections and within a few short years he earned the rank of Sergeant. It was in that capacity where he went above and beyond to mentor the younger officers and was recognized by leadership as being one of their finest.

Of all his passions, fishing, comic books, Marvel action figures, for that matter anything Marvel, his greatest joy in life was his daughter Michaela. Although their relationship was strained, he never changed his Facebook title from “I’m a proud dad of a beautiful daughter.”

Bill is survived by his daughter Michaela Carvalho, brother Richard and Pat Lubow, sister Mindy and Nat Kusher, nieces Audra Kusher and Maureen Lubow, nephew Aaron and Milissa Kusher and their children Aubrie and Caiden Taube, cousins Karen Gordon and family, Scott and Laura Lubow and family, Warren and Cheryl Lubow and family, Andrew and Judith Gould and family, Yale Gould, Robert Goldman and David Goldman.

Bill,
Because of our age difference I always regretted that we never shared the same experiences that other, younger brothers shared. But as we got older I believe that where those younger brothers drifted apart, we got closer.
I’m going to miss our daily “just checking in” phone calls.. Bill, I’m proud of the man you became and I’m going to miss you. Love you Bro.

I am so sorry to find out about Bill’s passing. He was such an amazing guy with an absolute huge heart! I met Bill at least 5 years ago after the passing of my husband and we became friends. My daughter Allison loved everytime he would call her and pretend to be Barney. It made her laugh and smile in times we had little to smile about. The past few years Bill has been our Santa for our Christmas fundraiser for our non profit. He was the absolute best Santa because he truly brought happiness and smiles wherever he would go.
He spoke about his family with such love and admiration even his daughter he had hoped to reconcile with one day! I am not sure if he had the chance as I hadn’t spoken to him the past month or so.
I will miss our conversations and Alli will miss all the super hero talk. Hope you get to meet Paul up there, you guys would make awesome friends!

I have known Bill since High School at Miami Sunset Sr High. During that time we became best friends. He was my body guard since I was a skinny kid weighing 10o lbs soak and wet. No body messed with me when Bill was around. He was truly a genuine person always with a smile on his face. He was really funny and loved to reads Comic Books. Thank you Bill for being there. He was my best man at my wedding.
My friend I will miss you dearly. I will always remember you as you were.
We shall meet again. Rest in Peace Brother!

Bill,

I’ve heard so many stories fondly shared about you by my husband, Tony. When he was six years old he and his family moved in next door to you. You being the tender age of five, first day meeting them, walked in without knocking and said, “Hello! what’s to eat??” Opening the refrigerator yourself to take a look. Paula, Tony’s Mom, lights up every time she talks about the day her other son walked through the front door and made himself at home. She loved saying how he looked like one of her own children, red hair and all. It was that very moment, you became Bill Anderson Campagna.

You are leaving us far too soon. My heart goes out to your entire family, especially your beautiful daughter, Michaela.

RIP Billy.

Sergeant Lubow -Anderson

I just to give my condolences to his family and friends. I was unable to attend the funeral and was thankful to watch your funeral live stream. As his brother, sister and nephew spoke I remembered all his stories he told about them and how much he loved his family and daughter. I met Lubow when I was his Captain and remember one day when I walked into his Dorm and he was yelling at the top of his lungs. I gave him a two week vacation and told him he needed a break. Lubow Anderson said, no, I don’t want a vacation, I love my job. I convinced Lubow-Anderson to take a vacation and he was hooked after that.. it didn’t take a lot to make him happy. He went to visit his Brother and their family and told me stories about camping in the mountains and how he would hang the food up so bears don’t get it. Bill came back with a glow on his face and always thanked me for sending him on vacation. Another crazy thing he would do would be to take off his boots and go into the swamp water to take out the baby alligators that got though the fence line. He was a life saver for all the Officers who feared the wildlife, it would be Lubow Anderson to the rescue. I was his Captain when Lubow -Anderson got promoted and he was so proud to be a Sergeant and would stand up for the new Officers. One thing about him if an Inmate was being disrespectful he would be yelling at them at the of his lungs. He didn’t need to use force. He was well respected by the Inmates and he really was a gentle giant. Later in life I took a demotion and Lubow-Anderson and I were on the same shift. One day while we were sitting watching the Rec yard, we were talking and realized we were the same age and actually went to the same schools starting at middle school. We had some of the same memories of school. I didn’t know Bill in school. I was the quiet one and as he would put it he hung out with a wild crowd. Lubow Anderson loved his role as Santa Claus. I remember after him going to the prison to have the staff take pictures with Santa Claus he was outside my place and said bring your puppies outside so they can’t get their picture with Santa Claus. He also was my back up to feed my cat when I left out of town. So all the stories that were said at his funeral were memories of his stories that he will tell. Sgt Anderson loved his daughter. I remember seeing his daughter at the supermarket and they were talking to each other and he was beaming with happiness, that he never noticed that I was saying hello. I am happy to see his daughter at the funeral and really felt like I knew the families from all the stories. I could go on for days of all his memories. RIP Lubow-Anderson. I know that there is another angel watching over
Your family, friends and your work family. I can see you smiling and at times cursing in heaven. 🙏🙏🙏
