March 15, 1950~June 02, 2017

Winnifred May Beckford (Winnie) aged 67 peacefully passed away on June 2, 2017, at the Aventura Hospital and Medical Center. Winnie was born March 15, 1950 in Montego Bay, Jamaica. She was the daughter of Alfred and Gertrude Beckford.

Winnie migrated to the United States from Jamaica in 1985. Once in the United States, Winnie embarked on a career in the nursing field. A career which continued through her lifetime and spanned over thirty years. Nursing was one of her many passions. She enjoyed the challenge of providing nursing care to all of her patients. As a caregiver, Winnie was experienced, dedicated, reliable and knowledgeable.

Family and friends were one of Winnie’s other passions and delight. One of the most important people to Winnie was her only child, her precious daughter Marie. Winnie proudly shared not only a natural mother daughter bond with Marie, they also shared the bond of friendship. She enjoyed entertaining friends and making everyone laugh. Winnie had a natural flare for humor. You could always count on Winnie to say something hilarious even if she didn’t intend it to be hilarious. She had the natural gift to put a smile one your face.

When not providing care to her patients, two of Winnie’s favorite pastimes included traveling and sampling new cuisines. Each new place visited presented the opportunity to learn new dishes and her attempt to recreate them.

Winnie is survived by her daughter Marie and son-in-law Linel, her three sisters, Angia, Elsa and Betty, numerous loving relatives including a slew of nieces/nephews, as well as multitude of acquaintances and a few close friends.

Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, June 17, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, Hollywood Boulevard Chapel. Reception will follow until 2:00 p.m.
