Zachary Omar Haniff, age 36, passed away on December 24, 2019 in Arcadia. Born December 10, 1983 in Miami, Florida to Osman Haniff and Jill Behning-Haniff. He was their only son.
As a child, Zach loved playing with sports cars, swimming at the pool, camping at Peace River, learning karate, playing tennis and football, but his major lifelong passion became baseball.
He was very protective of his family and friends. He exhibited a genuine love for people and touched many hearts with his kindness and his charisma. He truly cared deeply about others, and he always showed his love in a gentle manner with a smile on his face.
When he graduated IMG Academy, high school, he earned a partial scholarship to Jasonville University to play collegiate baseball. Baseball became Zach’s passion throughout his life! While enjoying college life, he continued to practice and work out diligently in pursuit of a baseball career. Facing adversity, he continued to rise to the occasion, and he excelled at the highest level; whether it be a home run or a simple smile on his face, he was always there to support his team and his family.
After encountering health issues, he continued to strive towards achieving his goals in baseball. He persevered daily by practicing at the batting cage doing what he loved. Unfortunately, his life and his dreams were cut short due to a car accident.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Zachary Haniff, family and friends may donate to Weston Miracle League, a foundation that provides opportunities for children and young adults with disabilities in South Florida to play baseball regardless of their abilities.
